Strengthening grassroots women’s leadership through the Paradigta Academy programme
Since 2015, the government of Indonesia has implemented Law No. 6 /2014 concerning villages. The enactment of the Village Law demonstrates the Indonesian government’s political will to de- centralise the development plan and bring decision-making to the village level. However, it was clear from the start that the inclusion of women’s participation and leadership, as well as other gender
issues, would not be easily accommodated in the implementation of the Village Law.
